Sleepwalking

I know I am not alone in finding it difficult to witness, albeit from the other side of the world the utter carnage and devastation in the middle east. There is a sense of impotence and rage that the players in this war are “Sleepwalking” towards an even bigger catastrophe that what we are already seeing. Much of the rest of the world also seems to be standing by, also “Sleepwalking” and unwilling to take a stand.

What is one to do as a composer? Our role has always been to express through the medium of music, that which cannot be expressed through spoken or written words. My new piece for three celli, is in response to this present middle eastern crisis. I hope to have it performed and recorded in the near future.
