Welcome to the first production post for Du’a for Broken Shelter.

Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing the journey of bringing this new opera to the stage, from preparation and rehearsals through to performance.

Du’a for Broken Shelter explores themes of displacement, refuge, resilience, and hope. Created in collaboration with writer Tracey Slaughter and Nida Fiazi, whose own experience of displacement helped shape the libretto, the opera seeks to give voice to stories that are both deeply personal and universally human.

This project has been many years in the making and has grown through the dedication of artists, community partners, and supporters who believe in the power of music to foster understanding and connection.

I will be sharing updates, behind-the-scenes insights, and reflections on the people and ideas shaping the production through Blog Posts.
